About Cotterill Economics

Dr. Ronald W. Cotterill is Director of the Food Marketing Policy Center and Professor of Agricultural Economics and Economics at the University of Connecticut.  He earned a joint Ph.D. in Economics and Agricutural Economics from the University of Wisconsin, specializing in Industrial Organization, Quantitative Methods, and Agricultural Marketing.  Dr. Cotterill is an internationally known expert on the organization and performance of food industries.  His research on industrial organization and antitrust policy addresses issues of mergers and acquisitions, monopolization, price fixing, market power, price transmission, differentiated product pricing, cooperative organization, and cooperative marketing.  He has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at the University of Connecticut, Michigan State University, and Sacred Heart Catholic University in Cremona, Italy.  He is Editor of Agribusines, a leading agricultural economics research journal, Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Supply Chain Management, and has written more than 50 scholarly articles, coauthored or edited more than 12 books.  He has testified before Congress and state legislatures on industrial organization and antitrust issues.  He has served as expert economist on over 30 antitrust or contract matters for private firms and agencies in the United States and the United Kingdom.
